Winter in New York City

Coming from a Latin American city where temperatures hover around 30°C (86°F) throughout the year, winter in New York has always been one of my biggest struggles. The cold, the difficult commutes, the shorter days, and the isolation of the season can make the city feel completely different.

Photography, however, has slowly changed the way I experience it. I’ve become fascinated by watching a city of more than eight million people continue to move, work, commute, and live through freezing temperatures, snowstorms, and gray winter days. What once felt only harsh has become something I look forward to observing: the quiet streets, the warm glow of storefronts against the cold, solitary figures moving through the snow, and the resilience of everyday life.

Through these photographs, I explore the contrast between the severity of a New York winter and the city that refuses to stop moving through it.
